“Ownership of business. Ownership of land. Ownership of what you call community. That is very important. In ownership everyone has the right to food. Food is paramount to culture, custom, tradition, religion. Food is so broad it encompasses the entire community.
We’re surrounded by water. That’s food. We have land. That’s food. If we can manage those two areas, along with the development that we want, then we can actually maintain ourselves. Food sovereignty, food security is paramount to any community and more so to an Island where climate change and environmental change will impact us more so than any land mass. We have to take care of our environment and our climate.”
